One hundred young people in Turbaco received free application PINs to apply to programs at Universidad de Cartagena. The distribution is part of “Tu puntaje es tu acceso,” a municipal initiative that recognizes results on the Saber 11 exams.

The support reduces one of the expenses families face when a student finishes high school and seeks to continue their education. In this case, it covers the PIN needed to begin the application.

Mayor Claudia Espinosa Puello led the event. Education Secretary Fredys Antonio Cardona Figueroa and principals of public schools in the municipality also took part.

Representatives of Universidad de Cartagena assisted the recipients and provided guidance on the application process and the academic programs available.

From Saber 11 results to an application

The selection of the one hundred recipients was tied to their performance on the Saber 11 exams. The program aims to turn that academic effort into an opportunity to take the next step toward higher education.

During the distribution, the mayor highlighted the support for students’ life plans. The municipality’s goal is to help those who stood out at the end of their schooling submit their applications.

What comes next for students

With the PIN, each applicant must complete the procedures required by the university. Receiving it does not mean a place has been reserved: admission depends on the process established by the institution.

That is why it is useful to review the application calendar for the chosen program, check the requirements, and keep the supporting documents. The guidance provided during the event offers a starting point for organizing those steps.

Choosing a degree program also means looking at its content and what it takes to pursue it. For families, discussing schedules, travel, and study expenses helps prepare for a decision that goes beyond filling out an application.

The distribution of the PINs focuses the support on that first step in the university application process. The next step is up to the applicants, who must submit their applications and follow Universidad de Cartagena’s instructions.
