Music and dancing brought older adults in Turbaco together for a social gathering organized by the Mayor’s Office as part of the November festivities. The event took place at Fundación AISAAM.
People affiliated with Centro de Vida Eugenia Arrázola and residents of the nursing home took part. Both groups shared a program that combined recreation, movement, and opportunities to spend time together.
There was dancing, foam activities, physical exercise, and dance fitness. The day also included lunch for participants as part of the gathering promoted by the municipal administration.
A celebration to share
The initiative was led by Mayor Claudia Espinosa. The mayor highlighted care for older adults and recognition of those who have devoted much of their lives to their families and the community.
The initiative brought the November celebrations to a space designed for this population. The activity allowed participants from the senior day center and residents of the nursing home to meet outside their usual routines.
The Fundación de Asistencia Integral Solidaria al Adulto Mayor, AISAAM, hosted the event. The recreational activities and opportunities for attendees to socialize were centered there.
Older adults’ place in community life
During the celebration, the municipal administration presented recreation and social connection as part of its commitment to older adults. The emphasis was on spending time together and recognizing their presence in Turbaco’s life.
Families interested in taking part in similar gatherings should check the schedule directly with the senior day center or the relevant care service. That way, they can learn about the planned activities and participation requirements before attending.
